Hospice care at Corus Health provides a comfortable, supportive level of care for patients and their families centered on compassion and respect during what we know is one of the most challenging times in life.<\/p>\n

Our program includes pain and symptom management, respect for the patient\u2019s and family\u2019s wishes, dignity, support, peace, and respect for the fullness of life throughout the process, as well as both physical and emotional support for the family and friends. It\u2019s an extremely difficult process for anyone, and Corus Health\u2019s network of care can support both the patient and the family as they go through this time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For people with a life-limiting illness of six months or less and who desire no further curative measures, such as chemo or radiation therapy, Corus Health\u2019s hospice care can help you and your family or loved ones through the referral process. We often describe ourselves as a \u201chospital without walls\u201d because we employ a broad network of healthcare services from the beginning to the end of the journey. Our intimate knowledge of where you\u2019ve been and where you want to go helps us provide the care you need right now. Simply, we know your journey and can walk it with you.<\/p>\n

Whether in your home, a nursing facility or a hospital, depending on the circumstances of each individual patient, our hospice team includes your personal physician, the hospice medical director, nurse, home health aides, social workers, counselors and compassionate, trained volunteers who work together to provide the specific needs of each individual patient.<\/p>\n

Because pain can inhibit participation in daily activities and thus make people appear to need more assistance than they would if their pain was under control, our nurses work closely with your primary care physician and referring specialists to provide the best possible palliative care. This includes developing a pain management program that works for you and your family, often combining long and short-acting medications to help you reach the level of comfort you desire.<\/p>\n

We have a cardiologist and a pulmonologist on staff to assist with the most complicated symptoms, while being able to avoid most hospitalizations. We provide 24\/7 EMT, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy coverage to manage the symptoms that can occur from chronic conditions.
